Ian Bates is the new director of transport services for the Isle of Man. He takes over from Ian Longworth, who has held the post since 2009 and is now working on a part-time basis for the Department of Infrastructure, as lead for transport projects.
Bates was previously the head of operations at Bus Vannin, having moved there in 2016 after four years as chief engineer at Metrobus and Brighton & Hove. His earlier career saw him hold posts at Go-Ahead London, Metroline and National Express’s Crawley depot.
